Hello! Has anybody got an Idea on slowing down a M. I was told that a set of planetary gear housings off a 666 will bolt on to a M and will gear it down 4 to 1. Just like to know if anyone here heard of this before? Thanks, Don

Some low 1st gear tranny kits were available as an option, but they are hard to find now. You could find rear end, and clutch housing off a 400 or MTA with the Torque Amplifier. That would reduce your M's speed. But it's kind of silly to do that swap whe you could just go buy a different tractor. What about smaller tires instead?

Don. Never knew a 666 to have a planetary gear set up to 660 did but you would need to change axel housings. and axels.

Does the 660 plantery gears reduce the speed 4 to 1? I'm hopeing for about 1/2 mile an hour in first gear or slower. What size tire is on a 660? Are the hubs different and the rims? Sorry for so many questions, but never heard or saw a 660. Thanks

I don't have an M but, I am curious as to why you would need/want to slow an M down any more than it already is. First gear is in the neighborhood of 1 mph while 5 th is about 15.

1st gear is 2 5/8. This is a problem with all letter series, too fast if you wanted to use, say, a rototiller. Might work, but would work better slower. I once used a H to transplant peppers, I believe. I drove with my Dad on the transplanter, bout worked him to death.
