Dick - Any luck finding rebuild parts/info for your Charlyn PS motor?

Had the hood off my father in law's SM this morning - discovered it's wobbly steering is the result of rotational play in the output shaft from the Charlyn motor, same as on yours. Would like to rebuild this unit if possible. However we can find no identifying data (model/serial #) on the motor.

Thanks! ...Bob M

Bob,
The two that I have looked at have a model and serial number stamped on the input shaft cover (facing the steering wheel). But one of them was virtually unreadable because the coupler was attached so that it was rubbing on the cover and the numbers were about gone.
Can't help with the parts other than the couple standard places that advertise like Bates and Steel Wheel.

Thanks Stan! This unit is flange-mounted on the steering wheel side so that side is covered up - would explain why I can't see any numbers. Will unbolt it and see what I can find, then pay a visit to the local Eaton Fluid Power place.

Bob M - I haven't pursued any farther- got busy with other stuff- I can't find any numbers- probably painted over. I hate to disassemble until repair is at hand! Appreciate the hints on location. Where there several models offered? Keep the thread going! Dick Davis

Dick - I know there were at least 2 different kits offered for the Farmall M - one powered by the live hydraulics and the other by a separate belt-driven PS pump. Suspect the torque generators were the same in both kits, though I don't know for sure...

Anyway my father in law found the original paperwork for the PS kit (live hydraulic powered) on his SM. The entire kit is Charlynn p/n K1-403-K. The torque generator itself is Charlynn p/n S101.

If I turn up more info I'll pass it on. Feel free to stay in contact with me offline: wrm@rochester.rr.com
