I found a 240 utility ,good rubber, fast hitch, runs good, pretty straight except been painted with brush. What do you guys think it would be worth. It is in Texas. Would it be worth restoring? Thanks in advance Bill

Bill, That is a real pretty tractor when all restored properly. I looked at one a few months ago in Ct, it ran OK had all its parts but had a brush paint job also and the guy was asking $1500. The rear tires were holding air but in real bad condx missing chunks of rubber. Im sorry I didnt buy it, But Im restoring a Super A and didnt have the room. You can look in the tractor photo section on this page and there is a picture of a nicely restored 240 utility.

To get the value of a average 240 utility, take the average value of a Ford 8N in your area and multiply it by 1.5 or 2. They are great little tractors for haying or general purpose. I starting running one at age five, pulling a hay wagon while my brothers picked up bales. The only real downsides are they can get light in the front with equipment on the back and they only have 4 forward speeds with road gear at about 12 MPH, seemed to take forever to pull a wagon home or get to the next field. Extremely solid and durable.

Take the time to sand off the brush paint and you will have a sharp little tractor.

I guess I should amend that statement about the value, its WORTH 1.5 to 2 times the value of a 8N but, usually a 240 SELLS at about the same price (or only slightly higher) then a 8N. The little utility tractors are all over in price, its very dependant on the area you live. In this part of Kansas I would expect to pay about $2200 to $3000 for a good 240 and about the same for a good 8N. I know in the Kansas City area it can be $3500 to $4500.
