Trin to get new wire to lites. How do I get these arms off? It seems there may be a drift pin holding them in place? Any help?

I was lucky enough to still have to old wiring in place to use as a pull string. Removed the four bolts that hold the light stand/steering wheel to the junction box. Worked pretty slick.

I used some real lite kite string....but get the good stuff. Make a small knot on one end a little smaller then the hole in electrical box. Then hooked up the shop vac and duct tape to one of the ends of pipe then suck it up through from the electrical box. Then I tied on to the wire. Did same on other side, spiced on the other wire and heat shrink and pull splice up in and wire.I also drilled a hole in bar to run wire out so it didn't stick out the end.....it seemed to get pinched and smashed easily when routed out the end..... ..Good Luck.....

All good recommendations below. I have found it easy to use a straightened out wire coat hanger and run it through one end of the cross pipe where the lights mount. Tape your new light wire to the trailing end of the coat hanger. when you get the wire through the pipe, leaving plenty of extra wire hanging out each end of the cross pipe, remove the coat hanger snake. Now make a small "U" shaped hook on the end of the coat hanger and feed it up through the vertical post and try to "catch" the new wire in the hook. Once you have the wire "hooked", gently pull down on the coat hanger to pull the wire down through the vertical post and into the wiring junction box where you can splice them together. Happy snaking!

Take a length of mechanic's wire and thread it through the pipe. Tie & tape the light wire to the mechanic's wire and pull gently to get the light wire where you want it.
Electrician's call this "fishing" and use a "fish tape" to pull wires with.

The big problem is getting the wire to drop down the small hole in the middle of the pipe. The hole is probably only a 1/2" to get 2 wires thro. The hole at the bottom 8" away is also a 1//2" The weird thing is was the splice to make the 2 wires up is in the middle of this!

I did the same thing about a year ago, had the entire tractor disassembled, so many things, I don't remember. But, isn't there a set screw in front, or perhaps rear of the light/steering post? The arms you are referring to is a single piece of pipe with a hole in the center for the wires. I don't know if taking the bar (pipe) out will help or not. You still have to thread the wires up from the light box thru the post and both directions through the bar. Probably easier to thread with the steering post off, but then you have to contend with the steering, touch control levers, etc.
