I have a pieced together A and the overhaul was going well until I slipped the new sleeves in. They are loose on the lower position, no o ring will compensate. Engine has no serial number visable on the engine. Could this be a super C engine? Casting has 354898 then an R2 then a 3 7 Z towards the center, slightly forward. The sleeved I took out are (were) very heavy.

Thanks

You have a C123 as was used in the Super A-1, up and the Super C, up. The block was cast March 7 1954.

CNKS is right, you need to swap for a 3 1/8" to 3 1/4" overbore sleeve and piston set for a Super C. The original block for your A would have had 3 5/16" OD sleeves (at the O-ring sealing surface).

Thanks for the info.

I remember when the tractor that the engine was in came to the farm. The hood said Super A but it had no hydraulics, but it look much more sleek that the older A (or so it looked, might have been because it actually had paint) The backend was there long before I was born, my Grandpa bought it new the first year of production.
