My Farmall 140 is leaking fluid out of the front of the Touch Conrol unit, specifically where the control valve piston is going into it. Can I pull this piston out without completely disassembling? Does it have an o-ring on it? Is my only choice to disassemble the whole Touch Control unit? Any body with expierience and knowledge would be appreciated.

There is an O ring on each of the touch control rods. They are recessed inside the housing. You will need to make an extractor out of a welding rod or such. Putting them back in is no problem. Drain the touch control. You probably need to was the screen (held in by four bolts on the left side) anyway and this is a good time. Disconnect the hydraulic lines on the right side. You will need a NEW gasket for that. Disconnect thecontrol levers. remove the four mounting bolts. Unfasten the control valves from the left arms, remove the lift arms and pull the control valves out. Thjey aren't fastened to anything inside the unit. You will see the"O" rings up inside. You can buy a pair of universal rack and pinion boots to replace the boots from an auto parts store. When you get through, refill with oil, have a blow gun and a rag ready to shoot just a little air into the filler hole. You may not have to if you don't remove the lines from the pump itself. Good luck

Gary,
Thanks much. That is very helpful. Let me ask you a couple of questions though just to clarify. When you say four mounting bolts, are you talking about the main bolts that hold the whole touch control unit to the tractor? Do you think I need to remove the whole unit to get this job done? Also, shooting air into the filler hole, is that to push the fluid through the system as I am filling it up or what? Thanks
