I have done everything that I can think of for the past 3 days to try to get my '53 cub to charge. It was charging fine and now it isn't. I replaced the gen. belt, tried 3 voltage regulators checked the wiring, Polarized the generator and nothing seems to work. It is a positive ground system. I tested the gen. by shorting the F terminal to the pos term on bat(ground) and the ammeter showed a full charge so I'm pretty sure the generator is working, besides, that was rebuilt about a year ago. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Kirk - What you describe could be caused by a poor ground at the regulator. Try running a temporary jumper wire from the regulator base to the grounded battery terminal. If that works clean up the ground path between the regulator and the tractor frame or else install a permanant aux ground wire to the regulator.
