We recently aquired a 1947 Farmall B with a narrow front end. My husband wants to put a wide front on this. Did any of the 1947 B's come factory with wide fronts? Will we need to make any modifications? What Farmall models might the front end interchange with?

Thanks for your help. We will probably be posting out here more often as the restore process proceeds.

Rather than mess up an original tractor, why not just sell it and buy an A?

They never came from the factory with a wide front but you can put one from an A. I have all the parts to make the change.

The A's and B's same tractor but the A's had wide front and the B's nerrow front. Never made nerrow front for A never made wide for B you would have to change front casting on either tractor to change from ont to other.

Aces: Even then what do you think? I doubt that the left front wheel will line up with the rear wheel on left. At any rate they would not be restoring something original.

I have seen a B with a farmall C wide front end. It looked quite good to me. I took some pictures, I will try to get them posted tonight. The B has 4 casting points that were not drilled out, but it appears they were planning on offering a wide front end, but never did. The down side is that wide C front ends are hard to find and if you do they are usually expensive.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It does look like the front end mounting may have been modified to accommodate the wide axle.
