Farmall M Distributor

I recently purchased a Farmall M that has a vertical delco remy distributor part # 1111411. It is missing the cap and rotor, the points look like standard 6 cyl Chevy points. Does anyone know where to get a cap and rotor for this distributor. I tried the local Case/ International Dealer and they have no idea, I also tried all the local tractor and automotive stores.

A normal M cap is not tall enough, the clips that hold the cap on will not secure. Also there is no notch in the distributor lip to keep the cap from turning, so the cap cannot have a notch on it, since this keeps the cap from sealing.

I think you all must have poor C-IH parts guys. I got everything you were looking for from my C-IH dealer this spring-had all the parts in stock. Went in & told him what I wanted, parts guy went to the shelf, got the parts & then checked the #'s in the book to make sure they were right. Call Scott Supply, Mitchell, SD (605) 996-7704, ask for Dave-they will ship. BTW, my delco distributor is on an SC Case. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Ray, I got all the Delco distributor parts at my NAPA dealer. The distributor cap is NAPA part number RR145, the rotor is NAPA part number RR83, the points set is NAPA part number CS763A and the condensor is NAPA part number RR174. By the way, if you have the short filter, it is NAPA part number 1172. Hope this helps some. Larry

I tried the RR145 Cap it was too short. I couldn't clip the clamps that hold the cap down, they wouldn't reach.

Also that cap had a notch in it that didn't match the dist. There is no notch in the dist.

Do you have the dust shield in place? It goes between the cap and the distributor housing. Without it the cap will be too short and will not line up properly.

Nope. I didn't even know there was a dust shield. When I got the tractor the distributor didn't have a cap and rotor you could look right at the points and condenser

The dust sheild is indexed by the base of one hold down spring and the cap is indexed by the dust shield. There is a gasket also under the dust shield. These parts should be the same as for a 1949 Ferguson TO 20. At least they are for my M and TO 20.

Recently went through the same thing myself, it makes no sense to me why my case-IH dealer didn't have one, as there are as many Ms and Hs with the delco dist. as any other kind. I posted on this forum also to get some help, and the standard answer was, go to your case-IH dealer, he will have it, well now there are at least 2 of us who have struck out at the dealers.
I did find one at the local car-quest.
NAPA did not have one, and did not even list it in their books.
The last I knew, Delco is still in business, what's going on?

Tractor Supply has them. The Delco distributor is the same as was used on Case and AC.
