I have a 39 M with low compression head. I would like to change to the 8060 gas head. My question is can i use my rockers and pushrods from the old head. MY service book shows the gas head having longer valves than the kerosene. I was wondering if i will have enough adjustment.

the rockerarms and pushrods are all the same. their are three different combustion chamber depths for m heads. the 8060 and the 8574 head are both gasoline heads.the tops of the valves are all same height. if you are using the right valves for the right head. if you use valves for a gasoline head in a lower compression head they will be too long.

DJA, I have a 8574 head that has been reworked and is a good head. If you are interested contact me. They are expensive to redo. I am in Eastern Iowa.

What is the part # of the head you have now? I am wanting to do the same thing, and was told that an 8060 head is the same as an 8547. Anybody know if this is right?

According to my parts catalog I show 2 diffrent parts no,s for gas heads. My head is a 6336DC kerosene. Gas head no,s as follows, 8574 dbx will work for 8060 dc for M no,s 41346 to 281977 the other no,s are 63472da, 63473da will work for 8060da or 8574dx for M no,s 501 to 41345 I assume this is the head i need to find i was just curious if i could use my old pushrods and rocker sets on the gasoline head. The catalog does not show any 8547 no. heads.

It was a misprint, I meant 8574.

The rockers and pushrods will work. The difference is in the combuston chamber depth. The gas head is not as deep, therefore, longer valve stems.
