Hey, found a C in a yard. Guy bought it to restore, but doesn't have time. Will sell it to me for $600. The motor turns, no antifreeze in oil, don't know about oil in antifreeze, sheet metal in rusty condition but surface, has fenders and original lights even rear. Will need new rubber. Has cultivator and plow with it. Any comments. Thanks in advance. Dale

Dle,
Don't forget to come back to the board and tell us how this "Farmall C Saga" turns out.

If it's like you say it is, try waving a $500.00 bill in front of his face and see what happens.

Just remember that old tractors are kind of like the plumbing in an old house:what appears to be just a simple fix leads to another problem and then another and so on and so on.....

Yep, Sorry had the year wrong. He started at $800 and tried $500, but he said $600 would take it.

Fenders are worth $200 or more, so selling it as parts it's worth $600 easily. Sounds like a decent price for a complete tractor that's not stuck. However, keep in mind a complete restoration can run into the thousands of dollars and a C or Super C is still only worth about $2500 in great condition.

Yea, I have not seen to many Farmall IH stuff with fenders intact. Thought the same thing myself. And the original tail light w/ glass would be worth something. Dale

Probably not too far off on the price, since it needs rubber, I would try to talk him down a little.

Look for the serial number tag on the toolbox below the seat on the right hand side....then go to the link on the left hand side of this forum and look up the serial number to find out what year the tractor is....

Did that back in Feb. Must have been drinking heavy that day and got the SN messed up or read the SN/year list wrong.

The last C was built in 1951, the last Super C was built in 1954 so it can not be a 1958. I would like to hear it run, but doesn't sound like to bad of price.

Farmall C's were made from 1948 to 1951

Super C's were made from 1951-1954.

I don't know what others will tell you about what the fellow is asking for the tractor, but if it was me, I would look it over pretty good and if I didn't find anything major wrong, I'd proabably buy it ..... ..But, prices vary depending on where you are.
I guess it comes down to "if-n you want it".
