Engine specifications

I have clearance specs for bearings at home for most Farmall models but what are acceptable specs for cylinder wear? I had the head off of my Super M and found that it has a substantial ring ridge at the top of the sleeves. I want to determine whether I will need sleeves and pistons when I restore this tractor. I still want to use it for pulling and for farm work such as pulling fertilizer wagons etc.
Thanx

I have a good set of 4 1/8 IH Firecrater pistons, rings, sleeves and wrist pins. They are the larger wrist pin for a Super M. Great buy for $300 plus shipping. Got them from a puller who kept them for a spare. Jim

Personally, if you plan on keeping and using the tractor and it has a ridge in the cylinder now, I'd put new sleeves and pistons in it. It's a Super M, sleeves and pistons aren't that spendy for it anyway - plus you can overbore to a 281 cubic incher!

If you can feel a "substantial" ring ridge, there is more than enough wear to justify new sleeves & rings.
Remember: .001" of diameter wear (cylinder bore increase) = approximately .003" of ring gap increase.

I didn't have to feel it, I could see it!!!!! 281 cu. in. sounds pretty tempting. Thanks for the replys.
