I thought they turned the pump up on the Black Strips a tad..... ..... I read they re-tested them at Neb. so they had to change something(Engine Wise).

Late 66 series tractors have black stripes. There is no difference in the tractor underneath. So I guess its all in what you like...

Chuck: Close but not completely so the black stripe tractors are slightly different. Not completely sure on the change due to memory, but I believe the black stripe tractors have larger axles. It's only 1/8 inch. The upgrade was same as what was coming on 86 series tractors. When I say this I am speaking of 1066 and 1086, as I bought a new 1066, probably one of the last before black stripe.

Jim: In 1976 or 77 the dealer told me what the difference on black stripe from regular 66 series tractors. I quite frankly cant remember what he told me. There was a discussion here on forums last fall regarding the difference. It is in the archives. It is in rear of tractor. What we need is one of the old IH parts guys with numbers.

hiug the difference in the white and black stripe is the three point hitch arms , and the rear axle housings these were already set up for the 86 series
