A few months back , somebody had posted a form that could be sent to the Internation Co. for the replacement of the old gas tank cap. If some could be so kind to post that "form", would be appreciated. Thanks, Murray

Call Lebow products in Troy Mi. and ask for Chris Fasse and he can point you to a dealer that will sell you one. (probably only a few $$) We have boxes and boxes of them in our warehouse. We sell to distributors.

Guys below are right - but be aware that it may take several weeks to months to get your replacement cap!

Just for info, Ford did the same thing a few years ago.
I got a new, free cap for my 2N.
I picked it up at the local Ford/NH dealer.

I suppose they would still give you one.

Sorry to mention those dirty words *Ford/NH* here..... smile.

G'day

Not to change the subject, but how can Ford/NH be any more abrasive to the ears than Case/NH, or even Case/IH for that matter. We purists will hang onto the International Harvester, Farmall and McCormick Deering names forever.

While I'm sure this is a pretty dumb question, what's the difference between the "new" free replacement and the old gas cap?

Not dumb at all. The old 1" tall caps were not vented and allowed gas vapors to build up in the tank. The new "Taller" caps have two tiny holes in the top plus a second set of locking tabs to allow you open the cap part way to release any pressure that may be in the tank and then finish twisting off the cap to remove.

The other difference, on mine at least, is that the old one was worn out. It leaked, let gas slosh out on the tank, and the new one doesn't.

The old one on my C had a vent hole on top, and gas sprayed out from the pressure build up if the tank was too full... not a safe condition
