Hello. I have a 1949 Farmall H that I'm trying to sell, and I'm trying to get an idea of the price for it. First of all, both front tires are flat, however I am changing those before it gets sold. The wiring from the battery to the starter button to the starter and all that is shot, and that will be replaced as well before sold, if I know whether the tractor will be restored. As for everything else, it works good, just needs a new coat of paint. Haven't ever seen this tractor leak, and we just changed the oil. The biggest problem is I can't get it to start. I've put on new points plugs and condensor, I know I'm getting good fire. I know it also has VERY good compression. Its got everything it needs to start, it just won't. So any ideas about that would be very much appreciated! Please if you can, email me because I will forget to look at this site. Thanks for your time.

If you have good fire and have not messed with timing my suggestion is start on the fuel system by first removing the sediment bowl turn fuel valve back on and see that gas flows freely from the tank.If it does then go to the other end of the line at the carb screw the line loose from the carb there is a screen on the end that fits into the carb and it may be plugged If all that is clear and it still wont start then you may want to remove the carb take cleaner to it dissassemble it soak in carb cleaner for awhile and put it back

Double check the ignition timing. Spark on compression stroke, not just on timing mark. If just a sniff of starter fluid doesn't give you a pop it's probably way out of time.

Look in the Photo Ads, and the other classifieds on this site, and see how much other people are asking for theirs, and while you are at it, post an ad for your tractor, only YOU knows how much you want to get for it

Thanks. I'll check em out. The problem around here is everyone expects me to just say "here you can have it." If I attach a price tag to it, nobody wants it. I've been asking $750, I don't think thats too unreasonable do you?

That sounds real reasonable for a running H.
