Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the crankshaft rear oil seal on a H engine without spliting the tractor? I know the I&T shop service manual says that you have to split the tractor and remove the flywheel (lots of work!) but I thought that I read that it was possible to replace the seal by removing the oil pan and rear seal retainer plate and loosen the main bearing caps. If anyone has done this, or know if it is possible, please let me know. THANKS. Ken

Ken, Are you doubting your faithfull IT Shop Manual? Sorry, they are correct this time. gotta split it. It is not that bad of a job. Be sure to block the rear end securly and be extra careful. Job can be done in less than a day.
