This question is for anyone who has "been there, done that." After reinstalling the injector pump, and with the injector fuel lines empty of fuel, about how much cranking will it take to fill up the lines? Would it be enough to overheat the starter motor? Should it be done in steps, or all at one time? Thanks for your thoughts and advice, JIM

Start with a full tank of fuel, it definetly helps. Disconnect the line from the fuel filter to the pump, turn on the fuel tank shut-off valve until you get a good stream of fuel. Hook the line back up, crack all four injector lines loose from the injectors, crank until you get fuel through all four lines. You might need to do it in steps, just don't crank for more than about 30 seconds at a time without letting the starter cool for a couple minutes.

Thanks, K. B.
I cranked for 20 seconds at a time with one to two minutes between cranks. After 8 cranks (2min 40sec) fuel started to seep around the injector nuts. This TD340 hasn't run in over five years. When it did fire up, it ran for about ten seconds before I shut it down. Didn't see any oil pressure indications. Tomorrow, I'll clean out the oil press. line and try again.

Glad I could help. You might want to try a different oil pressure guage. Not the kind that you install in the dash, but the kind that you keep in your tool box for doing oil pressure checks. That way you eliminate the possibility of a plugged line or a bad guage, also very nice for checking engines in equipment that have an idiot light in the dash.

Most of these old fuel pumps need to be primed. Not sure on the roosa-master but I know the newer model 100's have a primer pump right on the pump to suck fuel right up to the inlet of the pump.
