Hey all:

I searched the archives and I couldn't find this one: How much Liquid Weight (Calcium, etc)can I safetly add to my tractor? Say I am using either 9.5x24's or (if I can find a set) 10.5x24's. Thanks for looking.

I have a Farmall 100 and got new tires and tubes on it about 2 months ago. I just added water to the tires since with it in a tube, it can do much harm. With the tire on the rim, a 9.5-24 tire on my 100 added about 150+lbs of weight. I thought it was a necessity for me since I live on a hill side. You may or may not need it. But it's a little more easing on the brain if you add more weight to the right side to counter the weight of the engine on the left. My thoughts.

Plain water is fine as long as you are in a location where the weather does not get below freezing. Since you are in CA, I assume that is the case. If the water freezes and you drive the tractor, you are likely to ruin at least the tube in addition to getting a very rough ride. I found this out the hard way. The Farmall C I bought only had water in the tires and I did not know it until i drove it one cold day. At first I thought an axle had broken or a bearing had gone out. Too late before I realized what the problem was. The tube was already ruined.

If I were you , I would stay with the 9-24 tires . The 11-24,s change your ground speed a lot more than you think and and reduce your power . they make your 1st gear almost a 2'd gear. Just my thoughts. Dave

You can safely fill the tires to the maximum recommended with calcium (or alcohol) solution. That is up to the level of the valve stem with it at the top, which leaves air space from valve stem up. I'm not sure how much weight this would add, but I expect around 300 lbs per tire for 11.2 X 24.
