I'd like to know what the original 1955 farmall 300 dashboard looked like. Now it has black paint on it and red philips head screws. (Looking for detail). And where to find the paint for the original color of dashboard (bluish gray?). Also what type of hood attachment screws were used for the hood. Currently has two types of philips head and one type of slotted head.

The dashboard should be gray, the Phillips head screws for the hood are available at the Case-IH dealer.

Both of the 300s on my folks farm have phillips screws that were cadmium plate. They are real big buggers and I think a #3 is correct. The dash has smaller slot head screws the again are plate but stainless looks much better and will not rust after the years. Both of these tractors most of the time got parked in the big shed so the dashboards have not faded. Paint is semi flat black paint. This is the same color as on your car's wiper arms. NAPA had this color in spray a couple of years ago when I needed some; I would guess they still do. Some of these older black paints will "chalk" and this is where you could think they are gray. As with any kind of "toy" some could have gray paint but not ours. The bezel rings on gauges from the 60s are crome but the tack was painted red or is now rusty. Enjoy

Hi again. This is what happens when you had a long day and have read too many of these requests. I was thinking of the 460 and 450 dash boards. The 300s are just painted red all over. Under the little light cover is appliance white. Sorry bout that!

The dash was gray I didn't think it was bluish gray. The hood screws were phillips, at least thats what ours looked like.

I looked in the parts manual but it didn't list the screws, I would think that for the time period a screw that size would be a slot head. I also believe the dashboard is painted red as is everything else on the tractor. The hood screws are large #3 phillips head.

Our 300's dash was a very dark gray, almost black simi-gloss.
