I just bought a C farmall that had been restored a couple of years ago, but the grill emblem is missing. The grill on it now has holes for the long international emblem. Is this right? All the C's I have seen have the small IH emblem. Just wondering if I need to get a different grill, because the one that is on it doesn't seem to line up very good with the hood. By the way it's a 1949 if that makes a difference.

My guess is that if your grill is cut to fit at the bottom around the steering and front bolster then it is a grill from a "B" which would have had the two screw "Farmall" emblem on the grill. All "C's" and "Super C's" had the "IH" badge with a single screw in the middle on the grills.

It is not a problem to fill the two screw holes and redrill it for the IH badge. There are lots of places to buy grill emblems.

A '49' 'C' should have a farmall front badge. Small IH badge came on Super'C'. JIM

The IH symbol came on the C. I have heard rumors a few very early ones that had the Farmall emblem. These would be early 1948 models. The IH emblem on the grille was first used on the C and Super A. Then the Super M, followed by the Super H, and Super MTA. All C's I have seen have the IH emblem.

My '50 C has the small IH emblem. It does not have any holes that would indicate that it ever had a Farmall emblem on it. My guess is that mine came that way.

You have an incorrect grille on your C. It should use the small IH emblem which attaches with one screw. Your grille is likely from an A or B which explains the difference in fit with the hood. Note that a Super C grille is different as well (taller) so you will need a grille from a C to fit properly. They are somewhat hard to find in good condition, and not usually inexpensive when you do find one.
