I talked to a fellow who told me he would sell me his Reverse Farmall H. He says it goes in reverse. There is a front end loader mounted on the rear of the tractor. Has anybody out there ever heard of this monster? I saw the tranny setup in the parts catalog but have never actually seen one.

Thanks for the info.

Scott

drive it before you buy it ,we had two of them and the steering is trouble, unless you are only going to use it for a yard tractor, their problem is at road speed, they wonder bad,for the tranny they just put the diff. gear on the other side.

Good point about steering those reversed units! We've got a rough terrain forklift built on a reversed Allis D-15(?) utility. It's a handful to steer when traveling forward faster than 5 or 6 mph. For safety reasons it's highest forward gears are locked out. However it'll run close to 20 mph and steers fine in reverse (tractor "forward"). Consequently it's driven backward between jobsites. A pain in the neck (literally!) for the driver, but a lot faster than crawling several miles going forward.

I submit for an H or M similarly modified to run safely in reverse, good practice would be to insert the 5th gear lockout bolt in the tranny to limit the forward speed to 4th gear max.

Scott - I saw a similar, though larger unit built onto a reversed M at a show several years ago. Cannot remember the name of the manufacturer now, but recall it was a well-engineered and constructed unit. It was still being used occasionally by it's owner.

Unfortunately I did not get a photo of the unit...
