Carb iceing up

The manifold and carb are very cold and icing up on my tractor the carb is the up draft type.The tractor seems to start and run ok. What could be causing this. Thank you.

What tractor do you have the 6 cylinders have heat rizer in manifold.

The reason is the reduction of pressure which lowwers the temperature of the incoming air. The ice forms because of the cold temp and high outside humidity. Most cars have carberator heat tube to eliminate this problem, tractors do not.
Airplanes have this problem also and if not reconised will cause the engine to die, the have carb. heat to help prevent this, but reduces power.
