I have thourlly enjoyed your messages you have posted, however you made a statement to some one you werent a mechanic just a old farmer, I dont belive that. I would like to have just 1/10 of your knowledge, its people like you who makes a difference in peoples lives. On day if the Lord premits I would enjoy sitting on your front porch talking about tractors, and farming in general. Well its time to go back to church

Jim: I got called to dinner, one other item, we'll have to plan that front porch event, I have done it with a few of the guys. As one regular on forums put it one day early in June we should be able to get all the Farmall and farming discussion over before the snow flies. And if we can't we'll have to continue at other guys place at a later date.

Hugh where are you located. I am a 50 year old man who grew up on a old dirt farm in northern Va.I always wanted to be a farmer by trade, for a few years I did some custom farming on a small basis just to try to make ends meet, but becaues of the cost of living in northern Va,and the price of land it made it just about impossible.I finally moved to Charles Town WV, worked in a factory, own a grass mowing and bush hogging bussnessis and am a part time preacher. My love for tractors is still strong even though I only own a 1/8 acre in town. I own a TO-30 fergeson, Farmall 200,H.300.340,and a F12. All of the farmalls I rescued from the salvage yard.

Jim: I have a decade on you, I'll be 61 in August. Like you I am a native easterner, Nova Scotia, Canada for me. Like you I went west may be a bit more than you. I live in Strathroy, Ontario. But then I only came here 2 years ago. I'm just a worn out old farmer, not much good for anything anymore except chew the rag on forums, and play around doing my garden with my Farmalls SA, 130 and 140. I am a wee biy over powered but what the heck, most of North America is that way. Using entirely too much power to do the job.

I used to get into some very opinionated discussion regarding politics. Nothing very rewarding about that one. Five years ago I cancelled my daily newspaper, quite watching or listening to news casts. I don't pay any attention to current affairs. You know what, I am as well informed as my neighbor.

We have a lot in common. I have 2 TVs in the house and dont watch any of them, We own a VCR but I cant operate that either, and I refuse to pay for cable television. Me and my wife keep to busy to watch them any way. If I could talk her into it I would move to the mountains and become a hermit

Jim: Don't think I'm ready for that one. I like being around people. Going to tractor shows, seeing the crops growing. I got a lot of country to see yet. Any how to each his own.

Jim: I think your laying it on just a bit thick, i have probably had a lot more exposure than most to a wider variety of implements. Every time in life I've seen something new I always wanted to see how it worked, learn the specs and decide if it was of ant use to me. Over the years I looked at a lot of machines not much use to my situtation. I have also looked at a number of machines I could see wouldn't be much use to anyone.

You know something else Jim, I bet I learn more on here everyday than anyone else. I kid you not there are guys on forums having problems with tractors like 300, 560, 656, 1066, SA, etc; problems that had not yet happened during my farming days. Just this morning Farmall 300, (I had mine for 35 years and 5 sets of pistons and sleeves) a hydraulic problem I had never seen in my day. I have had an offset Farmall for 45 years, 6 of them over the years and never installed a hydraulic pump or a kit in the touch controll. Because of this forum I now feel I could install either.

There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. I could name dozens of guys, however if I tried I would only leave someone out. Believe me I have received more than I have given. The world could learn something from this forum.
