a frined of mine has a bad belly pump on his M, and we have been trying to figure out what is wrong with it. well so far we have come up with it has no presure but will still pump, just wont lift anything. i have never been it a belly pump before and have no clue as to what it is that is wore out or damaged on this pump. i would like to know what it is that wears out on them most comonly, if there is a pressure valve in them that might be wore or what have you. any and all help is welcome and needed. thank you steven H and richard W

If it has the needle bearings in it take them out and put in bushings the needle bearings where never any good can not hold tolerence with them and get good pressure it could be just bad spring. or ball.

You may have a broken spring or just a stuck ball in the valve body. You can take the pump apart and figure it out, just watch the needles if you pull the gears out of the housing.

There are shim gaskets that sometimes blow out and cause a dramatic loss of pressure but stuck balls is the best bet.

I had an H pump apart once just to replace gaskets, the only thing I can mention, that the older ones had less pressure than the later ones, also the machining tolerances were alot more open than todays modern pumps, and they were designed to run 30 wt. oil in them, so if you are running hydraulic oil, you may be losing some pressure there.
