I haven't had my M too long and I am currnetly still in the process of cleaning all the grease and grime off it. I was wondering if any of you guys could give me an opinion on the best stuff to use to get all this grease and grime off the tractor?? Thanks for the help.

One thing I have done for light grease and general clean-up is use siding cleaner on my tractors and Airstream - look for the one safe to use on all metals and plastics - seems to do a nice clean-up rather fast for general dirt and light grease. Costs me about 7 or 8 bucks a spray bottle - attach to garden hose - spray on - wait a few minutes - rinse off and let sun dry. Jim

If you know anybody who sells Melaleuca products they're "sol-u-mel" is pretty terrific stuff. Cheap for the amount you can make with one bottle.
Its the only thing I've ever seen that works better as its thinned.

I have found that mineral spirits work fairly well, but I kinda like the idea of kerosene also, how about diesel fuel? As far as a pressure washer goes, I have a 2500# unit, and wouldn't be without it, but it wouldn't touch some of the buildup of grease on my M.

Go to Walmart and get Castrol Super Clean degreaser. Follow the directions and use it full strenghth . I buy gallons and put it in a pump up sprayer ,great stuff. Suppose to be enviro friendly also. I've turned others onto this stuff and they swear by it to. Goodluck

While it would be hard to argue with a pressure washer it is not always appropriate to use nor conveniently accessible to many. I would highly recommend simply using Liquid wrench degreaser. VERY affective, convenient and able to get into pretty much anywhere you want to. As a close second if you are degreasing some large areas or are working your way to a complete restoration you will thank yourself many times and save a great deal of money by simply investing in a gallon or two of kerosene, a few cheap paint brushes and a couple of cheap aluminum through away baking pans for roasting poulty and so on available at your supermarket to soak parts in or use to rewet your paint brush to attack larger areas. You will want to give it a final cleaning with something else but it is fast, cheap and can quickly reveals what's underneath.

I use Simple Green. About $8 a gallon at Home Depot. Spray it on from an old Windex bottle, let it sit for 5 minutes then spray it off with a hose. It's safe to use and won't hurt your pets or the environment.

Steam pressure washers work extremely well. Call your local janitorial supply store, they usually have pretty stout stuff. We use stuff called Blue Wolf and it does a good job.

To be honest the best degreaser is a 2500+ psi power washer. It will take the grease grime and rust down to bare metal. As far as true degreasers go virginia 10+1 is by far the best.Thats What I use when cleaning and rebuilding centrifugal Chillers at work.

i go to the local dollar store( 1$ a can), and buy oven cleaner...leave it on as long as you can, hit it with the garden hose, you may have to put on 2-3 aplications on the thick stuff...NOTE! it will remove paint, and don't use it on aluminium

My local Wally World has an off brand spray on oven cleaner for 97 cents a can - pick up some and seems to work fine - just have to now wait for them to get more in - dont have the money to by the 3.50 a can stuff with the lemon scent. Jim

Lemon scent doesn't seem right for a tractor anyway. I use the cheap stuff.

Ive cleaned up 3 tractors with oven cleaner and it works very well, seems like the cheap 1.00 a can works better. plus I can talk my wife into buying it and I always forget to pay her back..
