The new starter switches are cheap and they don't last very long (either burn out or break). Has anyone had better luck with mounting a 6v solenoid in place of the foot switch and wiring a push button near the on/off switch?

The previous owner of my Super H set it up this way - I presume when he replaced the original "button terminal" starter with one with a screw stud terminal. A 6V solenoid is attached to the battery box under the gas tank and a pushbutton mounted on the light bar.

Definitely not original but it works fine!
