SMTA hydraulic problems, need help...

My SMTA had problems lifting a haybine and other equipment. I put a hydraulic gauge tester on it and it tested out at about 500psi. I put another hydraulic pump (used) on it and now it shows about 2200psi.

Here's the problem: When I test it when I first start it, it shows 2200psi. After about 3 minutes it drops down to about 1000psi. The Char-Lynn power steering doesn't seem to work properly. It does work but it feels choppy and harder to turn then it should. (The hydraulic oil is full) I have some pictures at www.sonnentag.com that shows how the hydraulics lines are connected. Do I have some lines screwed up or what? Please let me know any ideas that may be the problem. Thanks.

2200 psi sounds exceptionally high. What pump did you put on it? I assume you replaced the original located between the distributer drive and distributer?
Not only that, but a 1000 psi is pretty close to all it ever did. what doest the pressure do when you try to lift the haybine?
someplace there's a flow divider, which is there to make sure the steering always gets enough to operate. Have you adjusted it? If it's not set correctly, it'll starve your steering, and imitate a low hyd. fluid symptom.
Is everything else stock? I think there can be some wear inside the hydraulic control that will screw stuff up, too, and I don't know what to think about that.
I have a SMTA, and although it's an old, pretty wimpy system, it would still life a haybine easily, which isn't that hard.
?????

How do you adjust the flow divider?
