I have a small leak that looks like it is coming from around the radiator fan on an M. Is the water pump behind the fan? Can I add that yellow powder or pellets into the radiator that is supposed to stop leaks without doing damage to any other parts? Or is there another solution? Thanks.

If the leak is coming from the front side of the fan, it could be the packing nut around the water pump shaft needs to be tightened.

I have my doubts as to whether or not the stop leak stuff will be effective for a water pump leak, If the tractor were mine I think I would get a rebuild kit and have at it.
Fix it right the first time and you won't have to worry about it again.

The water pump is behind the fan and is driven by the fan belt. There are re-build kits available from your Case/IH dealer. Everybody has their own opinions on the use of a stop-leak product. I am not a fan of them. Just my $0.02 worth.
