Am rebuilding a couple old IH cream seperators, hopefully to use someday. An old 3s and a 4s. Getting motor redone (hopefully) completely soaked in oil, the other sounds like it might need a bearing at the top under the seperator cups. Have'nt got that far on it yet. Any body help me with what type of oil to use and what is proper oil level. Don't see any indicators for level and does'nt smell like 90.

IHC sold its own Milking machine/cream seperator oil. It was a very ligh oil--maybe close to todays 3 in 1 oil.

We had two of them, One with motor and one without. The one without the motor was used when the power was knocked out by a summer thunder storm. Later had a IHC model ? that had a power wash and direct drive universal motor that the speed was controlled by a gouvenor controlling a mercury switch. No backup crank or oil in this model.
As Bob stated, IHC sold their own oil which was very light, thinner than 5W. I do recall there was an OIL LEVEL stamped somewhere on the frame.
