I am looking at buying a 3-point mower for lawn grass and would like your impressions of the Woods RD7200 (6’) Rear discharge 3-point mount mower…Comments please! What can I expect to pay for a new RD7200? Please offer your opinions on price, overall quality and performance!

Mow,

I went through that exercise about 3 years ago. Looked a Land Pride, JD, Woods and Kioti -- which is what the local dealers had. Farmall Don's price on the Woods sounds good, our local guy was about 150 to 200 more. The Land Pride and JD were close to 500 more.

I finally settled on a King Kutter from TSC -- on sale for 1049.00. Haven't managed to break anything on it yet, and my view is that if I totally trash it, buying another new one would still be less than the Land Pride or JD. Usually do ~6 acres a week with it. It's side chute, and does a nice job; but go for the bush hog if the grass gets too high. The Woods, Land Pride, etc are all better quality -- I might see the difference in quality in 10 to 15 years, then again; by that time I might be pushing up grass instead of mowing it. You pays your money and takes your chances. Such is life.

I have not tried one yet, but my local dealer has been trying to get me to bite on one and he is down to $1,750.00 + Tax. That is as low as he will go, but that is still a chunk.

Mow:

Woods is generally top quality and price is consistent. To quote my wife who tends to like high end stuff" give me quality over quantity any time".

Seriously, I have no direct experience with this model. I did test a 90 inch Woods once with rear discharge and since I generally let my grass get too high I found that model to lay the discharged grass down in clumps. Can't say this will happen on a true lawn.

Although a sheer guess , you are probably looking at about 2200 dollars.

Best to you

Kajun
