My Napa guy is stumped? Stock 6 volt gen has been converted to a 12 volt. Anyone have a Napa part number for the correct regulator??

Did I mention it's for a B?

Jumping my way home.

Andy, there is a 12 volt regulator on eBay for $31. I believe it is for a negitive ground, as it is listed as being for the 460 & 560.

I suppose you can get a regulator that comes close, but in the end you will need to adjust the regulator. This is NOT an easy thing to do. Good luck.

This is why I would recomend an alternator for any 12 volt conversion. No adjustment needed when you are finished.

Understood Doug,

Already bought the gen - impulse buy. Plus, I wanted to try and keep an original look if you know what I mean. I'll pickup the stock 6v regulator and beg for advice to adjust it.

I suggest that you pick up a stock 12 volt regulator, and try to adjust that. It might even come close enough to working as-is. All I'm saying is, adjusting a regulator is VERY time-consuming.

You need the DELCO-REMY NUMBER OFF YOUR GEN. There is no way to change regulators from 6v to 12 you should be 6v pos ground on the gen if it is original. Dont know what you are trying to do with tractor restore or just want it to charge it makes a lot of difference to how you aproach the problem. Much better staying with original set-up is cheaper than all the changes. Use 1ga cables for the ground and to the starter sw for best results.

Thanks Gene,

Yes - I want a charging system... for lights. The gen I have is orig but upgraded to a 12 volt system. Wasn't sure if a regulator designed for a 6v would work with the extra voltage?
