We obtained a restored Int Model M 1.5 HP engine and can not get it to start. It has a Wico mag and it has spark at the plug it seems to be getting fuel.It poped a couple of times but wont catch. We put the run start lever in the start position. Is there any other tricks to starting this motor. Any info would be appricated.I know this is not the right board for this type of engine but I did not no where to go.

Tom, I have an "M" engine also and some other hit & miss engines, but haven't had time to mess with it. It is a lot easier to turn these engines over if you hold the exhaust valve open until you get the flywheels spinning. The extra speed helps to pull the air/fuel mixture in. The hit & mis engines are touchy for gas mixtue. Make sure that the plug wire is good. You can get new plugs at a lot of places that cater to the gas engine crowd. Most old iron shows have engine shows and plenty of people willing to help. There are 2 or 3 magazines for gas engines. I believe one is called "Gas Engine". You can try this site:>Link

The site name is Hit N Miss Enterprises. They have parts for the "M" engine. Good luck.
