My 15-30 idles VERY rough and if the engine is not under a load, it runs rough riding down the road, doesn't matter where the spark advance is. When its under a load (going up a hill, or through wet ground, it purrs like a kitten. Have fresh plugs, wires, manafold and carb gaskits, good compression, clean air filter. Carb air/fuel mix is adjusted to the book(and I've played with it in all directions). Carb has been pulled apart cleaned ect. I've never heard another 15-30 run, but all of the 10-20s I hear sound VERY smooth, nothing like my 15-30. Any suggestions?

I don't know how your tractor's governor is made, but there may be to much slack in the linkage. I've got a tractor that does what you say, but I know mines in the carb & you can adjust till your blue in the face. Have you known people to take drill bits or wire & rod- out plugged jets? Bad mistake. Mine was a rust bucket for a carb when I started, but I was thrilled it ran as good as it did!
