IH424 Hydr cylinder repair cost estimate?

I've got a cylinder that appears to have a seal leak. I raised the arms then turned off the isolator valve like the manual says for checking the cylinder and I'm getting leak down.

Can anyone tell me what a low/high cost estimate labor and parts for a shop repair be on this sort of job?. Everthing is contained in the upper case so I figure it may be worth it to bring it in instead of doing it in myself.

Thanks

The head on my 1953 Super C is cracked. Having a tough time to find one locally. Any suggestions where I can order a used-reconditioned head ?? Casting number is 251172-R2. Thank's in advance to all that respond.

I used to have a 424 that had this problem. As I recall, it required a new piston and seal rings for the lift cylinder which of course is internal to the unit. I think my bill was around $180 to have it fixed. However, the mechanic that did it used a Mahindra part, which fit. That part I think was less than $100, whereas the part from IH was nearly $200. If your piston is not worn, you may be able to have a machine shop cut an O ring groove and replace the leather seal that is original with the O ring. My mechanic was going to do that but the piston was too far gone and I had to have a new piston.

Good info as I have a 424--no problems now but one never knows. Thanks
