I have found a 185 in decent shape with a good, solid Woods L59 deck. The deck needs new skids but is otherwise real nice. The tractor does not have a 3 point hitch and is missing the battery cover and rear tin for the pto clutch. I understand all three of these parts are very hard to find. The tractor has been well maintained and runs good. It also comes with a heavy duty cab/enclosure that is stored in the barn in questionable condition. Seller is asking $1800 which is about what a plain, tired Cub with a worn mower sells for around here. The tires are in very good shape, new on front. I guess I am asking for some feedback regarding how good a deal this is and where I might find the parts including the 3 point hitch. Thanks for any comments.

That is correct. It is in pretty good shape but that lack of a 3 point is the sticking point. They are very rare and very spendy if found. What did you think of the tractor?

John,

The tractor looked good, didn't hear it start, just looked.

Are you in Apex?...are there many "old tractor people" in this area? Is there any effort to start a group?

email me sometime!

That's a decent price if it is in good mechanical condition. OEM Tractor Parts or Carter & Gruenewald should have the battery box lid and an aftermarket 3 point should be available from Worksaver or perhaps a salvage yard.

I don't see a listing for a hitch for the 185 on the WOrksaver site. I have emailed them asking if there is such an animal. Doesn't appear to be.

Thanks. I checked with C&G. The batt box lid and the rear tinwork are NLA from Case/IH. Do you have a website for OEM?
