I've got an 826 that's driving me nuts. It has brand new Case-IH wiring harnesses, a brand new regulator, and the Delco DN alternator has been tested, but the system does not charge. I've looked all over for bad connections, cleaned up grounds, and still no change. If anyone can, please tell me how to test the regulator and any other tests I could do. This is the Delco DN alternator with external regulator set-up which is commonly found on late 06 series, 26 series, and 56 series tractors.

KB: You must have a vehicle around with a Delco alternator with built in regulator. Hook it up and see what happens. May take some minor modifications but not hard to do with some jump wires.

Thanks Hugh, but I'm almost certain I found the problem. After I posted this, I ran the tractor for about five minutes, shut it down, and as I was reaching around down by the regulator, I felt something very warm, the resistor that is tied into the regulator circut. I removed it and found it to have 10 ohms of resistance. I belive this to be the exact same resistor that was used ahead of the coil on the 12 volt gas tractors, so I checked the one on 706, found it to have about 2 ohms resistance. I'll check with the dealer tomorrow and probably try a new resistor.
