Paid $350.00 for M today with a stuck engine. Tractor is all original with after market 3 point hitch with good metal but with surface rust. It will also need one front rim and tire. Question is? A local tractor salvage yard says a M in that condition should bring between $700 to $800 for salvage. Should I take the cash and run or FIX it. And if I do fix it what would it be worth then? Thanks, Pat

Even with an overhaul kit installed (if you can do the work yourself), you can have a rebuilt engine and fresh paint job on that tractor for around $2000 - including the $350 your paid for the tractor. Not a bad deal for an M with a good 3-point attachment included.

Take the cash, $450 profit for doing nothing is pretty good. See what they'll give without the 3 point, you could get $300 just for that. completely working with 3 point would be like $1600. -Greg

I would study it a little bit. You got a good deal. I would give you $350.00 alone for the three point.

I dont really know how much it would be worth done. Depends on what you do. Just the engine or if you paint it up and everything. If you can get $700-$800 for salvage I would do it thats what I paid for my running H. If you are going to get rid of it I might be interestied in the 3 point. Where are you located and how much?

Thanks.
Matt

go get some PB Blaster [ available at most good automotive or hardware stores] and spray each cylinder full let set and see if that will free it up. Its cheep and if it don't work you still have a salvage tractor
