I have a quick question. When I start my SC the oil presure goes up fairly nice but as I run the mower or after about 30 min, the oil pressure drops to about nothing...Should I be too concerned??? Nothing seems to be too wrong. It isn't blowing smoke...Do I need to get the head redone, or let it go....

Jesse: Take the easy and least expensive road first. Do as Aces and JWH suggest. A very simple task, and probably 2-3 hours of nothing but time. You will have it done in lots of time to know whether you need the bearing job next winter. Doug may well be right.

Check the aluminum oil pump cover for being warped. I think they all do it sooner or later.

This usually indicates worn bearings. You can use heavier oil or other additives, but IMHO this gives you oil starvation to the tighter places. You can run it this way, but I would plan on at least doing new bearings and possibly a crank grind this upcoming winter.

The oil pump in the SC is about the same thing as my B the base plate is pewter and over time it will warp and then the gasket leaks so it can not pump. I have not had my B all that long and I thought the oil pressure was ok but after running it more found it was not. I just sanded the plate smooth, but have not got it back to gether yet.
