Just thought that every one here that has taken the time to answer my questions and provide advice would like to know that their knowledge and time does not go un-appreciated. And the same is used to put my old tractors to good use.

Was a very nice day yesterday so took the day off from work and went over to the neighbors to bush hog about seven acres that has not been mowed in what looks like 100 years. Took the H with a six foot bush hog brand pull type mower and it was struggling in tire top high grass, weeds, wait-a-minute thorny brush, and sapplings. I went back home and hooked up to the 400 and that old tractor pulled through this stuff in 3rd gear. Would have tired 4th but I am not that brave yet.
I have been working on the 400 for about two years now trying to get it back into good mechanical shape. I was a little concerned at 1st because the tractor is in need of engine bearings as the oil pressure drops low when it gets warm. The look of appreciation on my neighbors faces (he in his 80's/her, a little younger--retired dairy farmers and a great people) when they saw the pasture was worth an engine rebuild; fortunately that can still wait until next year. The cut field really made the place look better and they were both very thankful. I wanted to share their thanks with all of you that have helped me in the past. Without everyone here sharing the years of knowledge on this message board, I would not have attempted to bring back to life these old tractors.

He asked me how much I wanted to for cutting the field---told him it was a three-beer job.

Scott, makes it worth the time an effort to see an old tractor come back to life no matter what brand after being silent for years :o) I guess I'd say looking at the smile's on peoples face's as your working an old tractor in a field is just about the second best thing :o) Next to that is hearing all the old stories of how someone use to work an old tractor like yours as they are standing next to it a show or tractor pull :O) Now that I think about it there is just a hundred or more reason why I love old iron an keep trying to bring as may back to life as I can :o)nice story Scott
