I was considering ordering a custom wire set for my McCormick Deering 10-20, or thought maybe going a little cheaper route and buy the wire and the wire terminals and I install the terminals on the wire myself. Found a web site that sells the old style copper strand wire, cloth covered, and they sell the terminals I would need also. On the website site it says the wires are copper strand that can be easily tinned??? What does tinned mean? Is this something I will need to do to get the terminals on the wire?
Don't the terminals just crimp on the wire??
Thanks in advance for your help!

I have an original set of IH wires on my 10-20. I got lucky when I found those! They are rubber covered and not cloth. They have brass ends that form a loop that sits in the stud on the spark plug. The loop is acually a two piece part that the wire loops around and the other peice sits on top and they are pressed together. they also have a small brass band around the end of the rubber for strain relief. If you want to see pics of them , let me know and I will send them.

RJ,
Tinned means they're dipped in molten solder. If you look at the terminals, there's a hole in the top. Some guys prefer the setup where they pull the strands through the terminal top, clip off the excess, flatten the whole thing down and dip it in a pot of melted solder. Let it cool, then you have copper soldered to copper to insure good contact, and those little diggers on the 4 ends of the terminal punch into the sides of the insultaion for stran relief.
