I just picked up a new reproduction Farmall H radiator drain plug cap, it leaks. I have been using a regular pipe cap with no problems. I was wondering what everybody uses? Can I get a regular pipe cap with say a square plug end on it? I would like to recess it up a little more into the bolster. Thanks.

John, I just went to the local hardware store the other day and found a hex 3/8 pipe cap for my B. That really works well since you can put a regular wrench on it instead of a vise-grip or pipe wrench. Although you still have to be concerned with where it is unscrewing, the cap or the pipe. The drain pipe is standard 1/2" iron pipe and the new repro cap you received should fit. Try a new 1/2" iron pipe nipple with good treads on both ends. Originals stuck down through the bolster far enough to get the cap on and off. You can also try some teflon tape on the treads.
