I am still working on it. I got the Transmission dog hand tight only. I unscrew the transmission dog by hand by turning the lift-all driveshaft, there by, making my lift-all driveshaft tight. I figure that by running the tractor, the transmission dog will also unscrew making the lift-all shaft even tighter but the opposite occurs. The Lift-all drive shaft ends up being loose. Not falling off loose but I can shake it slightly. How loose is too loose? I tried my lift-all (nothing hooked up to it). I pull the control rod to the raise position, a second later the rod snaps back in so I think the lift-all is working ok. Can the transmission dog be ok if it is loose on its threads but at the same time resisting enough torque to turn the Lift-all? Any thoughts, comments ,advice?

Not to worry John! That drive dog is right hand threaded and the transmission shaft spins CCW. So the dog TIGHTENS itself onto the transmission shaft when it's loaded by the belly pump. All you need to do is spin it on finger tight - the pump will do the final tightening the first time you put a real load on the hydraulic system.

Thanks Bob!!!. Will it hurt to not put a load on the Lift-all for a while? My hydraulic cylinders need rebuilding and wasn't going to do them for a while.

John - Shouldn't hurt to leave the dog loose so long as you don't let the tractor roll backward with the clutch disengaged and the tranny in a forward gear (or roll forward with the tranny in reverse). Theotically doing so could cause the dog to start to unscrew...

If that's a concern, simply take a pipe wrench and snug (tighten) the drive dog on the tranny shaft. Or with the hydraulic outlets plugged and the motor running, "bump" the Liftall lever back a couple times to deadhead the pump. That'll tighten the dog right up!
