I've got one for you guys...pure speculation. Whats a 986 with 7000hrs....good tires...pretty much a good tractor....what will it bring at an auction this weekend...I know the guy that owns it and I'm betting its a good tractor. Have any of you all seen one sell lately?? I'm thinking it sure would be nice to have a cab and AC baling hay this summer....if it don't go too high. I'm just wondering if you all have seen one sell and about what they bring???? I appreciate any and all comments...Thanks...

lARRY, just looked at a 966 in mid NY with about 4000 hrs at a dealer, wants 12,500. Said it had caught fire but has all been redone.

There is on setting on an equipment dealers lot here where I live and I have looked at and asked how much they wanted. They are asking $9,500.00- tires 70%,paint fair, air works, over 8,000 hrs. showing.

Is that Anson? I keep up with what they have but they seem to be a little high. you can find them cheaper from individuals or auctions. I would say 7000-8500 would buy that tractor elsewhere.

when you pay a price like that at a auctions, it is your baby period. If you get it at a good dealer and something go wrong, you can usually strike a deal with a good repair job. I just can not justify buying a big ticket items like tractors, combines, choppers at auctions. When you start getting into the guts of those machines , a thousand $$ hardly gets em apart. My .02 cents worth..Alvin

Well I ain't disagreeing with what you said but.....I know when you left THIS dealers lot with a tractor on your trailer..... you are on your own. buying from an individual is much safer than these guys. Auctions, about the same. You can check out a tractor before an auction.

I agree with Alvin, sometimes you may have to pay a little more, but the dealer will be there to help with repairs down the road if repairs arise. My 2 cents
