I was talking to a fella yesterday that said he had a white farmall "C" for sale with a loader. He said it had white paint under the red. Is there any other way to tell? If it is a white one is it worth 1500.00$? Thanks for any info! Andy

If it started life as a demonstrator, the serial number will most likely be between 47010 and 54411. If it is, and you have the $1500, grab it!

Duh...Duh!

Many were not painted red. It was optional, but recommended by the factory. My demonstrator Cub remained white until recent years. The original owner got tired of the reflection from the hood, so he got the paint brush out. He didn't mind that the white got really ugly looking.

I have photos of many original demonstrators.

The one in the photo belongs to J.P.Tractor Salvage.

1st check the serial #...it should reflect that it was made in early 1950, if not, then it was not a demonstrator. If it is, then check areas that wouldn't have gotten painted over with a quick "dealer paint job"; we found out Super A by accident when we removed the governor for repair, the back of the governor case never got completely covered when it was repainted red. Then dig in some other areas; look inside the battery box, scrape some paint off the lower outside portion of the fenders... If the serial # is an early 1950, and you have white paint in those areas, you probably have one...no way to 100% confirm it unless you can trace the history back to the original dealer, and if he is still in business, or alive, he may remember. Any C in decent shape should fetch $1200-1500, so if she was white, grab her!

The factory demonstrators had water pumps, superC
sheet metal and super C engines. Another good place to look for white paint is under the hood.
