I put a new hydraulic pump on my Farmall 450 and I can't seem to get rid of the whining/growling noise. I never had this noise with the old one. The filter screen was partially crushed, but not plugged. Hydraulics and power steering work fine, just so noisy. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

I just got my 450 home on Friday it came from the southern part of the state, anyway it didin't growl the day of the auction but when I picked it up the hyd pump really growled until the tractor warmed up then it was fine, I guess it just does it when its cold.

I will stand corrected if I am wrong, but if you didn't put the gears back in with the same teeth lined up this may be the cause of the noise. I took my C pump apart when I replaced the seal, and did not pay any attention to gear alignment. Seems noiser now. The repair kit (I got it AFTER I took the pump apart) said to mark the gears before they come out.
