Many replacement parts for the above tractors? I know the older Super H seems to have many parts available for maintenance/repair. Are these models durable? Any 'quirks' or other issues? They seem to be a great tractor for my small mini-farm. (I am seeking a second tractor).

I have spent considerable time on a gas 444. Good tractor. Have not had problems with the lift the others mention.

I have a 1961 IH 404 Utility that I use for field mowing and clearing my long driveway. It works great for this type of use. Parts seem to have decent availability form the dealer but are a little pricey. There's very little aftermarket stuff out there.
Mine has the factory 3 point, power steering, and a fender shaped hydraulic tank in place of the left fender. It was a state mowing tractor before my dad bought it 20 or so years ago. I'd like to put a loader on it, but I would also have to mount an additional pump on the front to do so. I'm working on a pump bracket and drive for it.

I also have a 404 and don't see too many of them around. I did see one down the road at Brinkley's big auction in Idabel OK a few months ago. I have never laid eyes on the other model numbers you mentioned. I love the tractor for its maneuverability, but it did not have a factory 3pt, so i had to rig one up with a hydraulic cylinder off the back remotes. The hyd pump does not have the oomph to lift real heavy stuff, but does ok with a box blade. The feloader also does not get enough oomph to work heavy loads right , but does ok for what I need. The only trouble I have and still have is the pilot bushing in the flywheel. It has worn out three times and I even had the shaft out and straightened, hoping to keep from wearing out the last one, no luck. Also cannot run a square bailer, no live PTO or two range gear selection! I have been thinking about selling it and getting a new Mahindra (at least it is red) or a Landtrac( gotta love a purple tractor), Farmall God forgive me, but I would never part with my Super C!!!!! Chet

Jimbob,
I have a 444 diesel that I have owned for about 20 years now. The biggest problem has been with the lift "jumping". I put a used control head on it and it went away. Parts are still available for them from the dealer. I have also found a few in junkyards when looking for sheetmetal parts.

I own a 354 and intend to use it as a college project overhaul. The lift on the back does not work and I am not sure what could be the problem when I open it up. Do you know or have you ever experienced this problem before???
