I am need some insight from you all. I found a tractor in the photo ads that I want, and wanted some advice on how you all normally handle the transporting of these tractors..... .short of driving there yourself, and loading them up....I need to get one from OK and the other one from Iowa to Western KY.

Use the hauling schedule to advertise your needs. You'll get a bunch of offers.

I have not yet had a tractor hauled but am looking hard at a couple in NC. I have used the Hauling schedule with good success. I have driven to TX to get a planter once. Most commercial rates I have got quoted are $1.25 / loaded mile.
Individual hauler rates are in the same ballpark.

Jesse, I agree with the others if it is a longer haul. but if it's some what local a wrecker with
with a slide truck can do most tractors up to a 4020 (in size & wt.) tractor. Larger tractors if they have a bigger truck. Wreckers haul for a living. I've seen 560s on 1ton slide trucks.
Good Luck,
John A

I've had a couple tractors hauled long distance by oldmisterbill@hotmail.com He knows what he's doing, is reliable and cares about your equipment.

Oldmisterbill is great. He hauled a gen set for me from New York to Indiana and his rates were very reasonable, I would use him again without hesitation. Brian

Since I can't stand to pay the price of a tractor for hauling it, I take a trailer and have a small vacation. Probably not cheaper but it is a lot of fun, get to meet the seller, and if you don't keep track of costs you'll never know :#

I have used a local trucking company to ship tractors and other large parts out. Cost is $0.75 per loaded mile for a tractor. Look under you yellow pages for a trucking company and give them a call - quotes on rates should always be free.

OR you can post to the hauling board on this website, never used it but have heard that it can work out quite well. Good luck.

The hauling post worked out pretty well for me. You'd be surprised how many offers to haul you'll get. Some quotes will probably be pretty high, but if you're patient enough, you can get a good hauler AND and good price. For anyone else reading this, there's a nice guy out of Michigan who did a real good job for me at a pretty reasonable price. I won't put his name up here, but please email me if you'd like contact information. Chris

Jesse, If they are drivable a trip from Iowa to KY is just a nice summer road trip! Think of the things you'll see! The bugs you can eat. The people you can amaze when they read your, "K'tucky or Burst" signs. The refueling stops. Heck guy, people ride bicycles all over the country as fund raisers, you can use it as a,"Buy gas for my Farmall," deal. The whole family can participate it is never to young for the kids to learn about changing tractor tires and cusing at the same time. Try it you'll like it. Jon
