Cub Cadet Battery Spillage

I recently acquired a Cub Cadet 107. All is well, except that battery acid leaks out when the tractor is tilted. This is causing a mess and battery failure unless I continually top it off.

Did these tractors have a battery tray and hose which directed leakage onto the ground? (Mine does not)

And is there a certain battery type that is less prone to leaking?

When you say "top it off" I suspect you are over filling the battery. The correct fill level is the ring about 1/2 to 1 inch down from the top. Also you asked about a battery that will not spill...yes they make em, They are JELL Batteries and you DO NOT WANT ONE. I learned too late that you cannot fast charge a jell battery and you cannot park one for more than 10 or 12 days (it will go dead) then you have to slow charge it (minimum 48 HRS) I wouldnt have another one even if I could get them FREE.

Ken,

I have had a 107 since the early 70's, along with three other model Cub Cadets, and have never had battery spill. On the 107 the battery is held in battery tray under the steering wheel by a single angle strap across the front edge of the battery which is held by two long swing bolts with wing nuts. If yours is boiling over, either it is overcharging or you fill it too full.

Sounds like You have a battery problem... I've been around Cub Cadets since the first ones in 1961..... No such tray or drain tube. Replace Your battery....
