Put a wide front on my 504 last year. Before this was installed I had good powersteering. Since this installation I have good steering when the tractor is cold, as soon as it gets warm it begins to bind occasionally, can be in either direction. Let off the wheel a little and it will go on ahead and turn. Also have noticed a high pitched squeal that comes and goes, sounds like maybe the relief valve. Never noticed this before this season. Any ideas? Sure haven't needed it for mowing as nothing is growing here, no rain since June. This is one of the "better" looking corn crops around, maybe half of the cigar sized ears have a kernel or two on them. No crops at all in this area are going to amount to anything. I am not dependent on ag income but sure sympathize with those who are in this area,

Had to look in 504 parts book, looks like Farmall 504 PS was option, and 2 types, 1 was for tricycle, they list another assist type on Farmall with wide front end option, appears to have a bigger hand pump. The International (or utility) 504 was only built with PS std, it was the first intregal type as IH called it, I was around a lot of new 504 tractors but couldnt remember details.

Yes I have checked that, it is a new Schwartz front end. As I stated it is okay when the tractor is cool but the binding starts and gets worse as it warms up.

Have you checked the pump pressure? I check the pressure at the pump. Put a gauge in the test port on the pump plate. By putting the gauge here you can tell what the steering pressure is doing. Also this summer we had a 504 that had an upper u-joint that was binding up. Also check the bearing on the end of the worm shaft.
