I spotted what I think is a WD9 in a nearby field and would like to get my hands on it. I know it is a diesel, but i dont know the difference between a WD9 and a WD6. A friend of mine knows the owner and he says he knows that it runs, its a bit weathered, but from the road it looks in decent shape. What would be a fair price to offer for this machine? Do these tractors have the UD9 engine (I have a Hough payloader with one)? Are these good tractors? Anything I should look for if I get the chance to buy it? Thanks alot John

Price depends on the condition. $1000-$2000 in running condition, or $2500 if Redrev can get it. Diesels are more expensive to repair than gas, and parts might be harder to find. WD9 is bigger than WD6, 335 cid engine as opposed to 248 cid in the WD6. In its day WD9 was IH's biggest wheel tractor. WD6 had same engine as the Farmall M. There was no row crop equivalent for the WD9.

Actually, redrev would take 1999 bucks for the WD-9 if it made an IH collector happy.

Who knows. I have a nice starting and running WD-9 for sale for $2500. and haven't had a bite. If it ain't worth that, it can just rest in the barn for another 25 years. I don't even know of another one for-sale around here, south of Albany, NY

There is a NICE W9 (not WD9) that's been for sale down here on the NY/PA border for a couple of years. Guy is asking $2400.00 and it's still in his barn.

I have a 650 diesel for sale too and no one has even made an offer on it. Someday they will be in demand like the 1206's. I am near Buffalo NY and have a real nice 1206 standard for sale for $6000 big fenders and all. John
